Titration refers to the gradual adjustment of your medication dose over time. This approach helps your body adapt to treatment while reducing the likelihood of side effects. At Join Piper, all dosing and titration plans are prescribed and monitored by licensed providers based on your medical history, treatment goals, and how you respond to the medication.
What is a titration schedule?
A titration schedule is a step-by-step approach to dosing where treatment typically begins at a lower dose and may increase gradually if appropriate. Not all patients follow the same schedule, and dose increases are not automatic. Your provider determines if and when adjustments are appropriate based on safety and tolerability.
How titration works at Join Piper
Your initial dose and potential titration plan are determined by your provider after reviewing your intake questionnaire and medical history.
Monthly check-ins are not always required, but your provider remains available throughout treatment.
You can contact your provider at any time through the Patient Portal if you have side effects, questions, or would like to discuss changes.
Providers may slow, pause, or hold a dose longer if needed for safety or comfort.
About injection volume and dose strength
In some treatment plans, the injection volume may stay the same while the medication concentration in the vial changes as doses increase. In other cases, both the injection volume and concentration may change. This depends entirely on your individual prescription.
For this reason, patients should always follow the personalized dosing card provided with their shipment and should not calculate doses based on vial labels alone.
Examples of how titration may look
Titration schedules vary by patient. Below are examples only of how dosing may progress when clinically appropriate. These are not guaranteed schedules:
Some patients may increase doses gradually over several months
Some patients may remain at the same dose longer
Some patients may not need higher doses at all
Your provider will determine the safest and most effective plan for you.
Transitioning from another GLP-1 medication
If you are switching from another GLP-1 medication, your provider will review your previous dose, tolerance, and treatment history. In some cases, patients may start at a different dose, but this is always determined by the provider and is not automatic.
What if I need to adjust my titration plan?
If you experience side effects, prefer a slower increase, or have questions about your dosing schedule, you can message your provider through the Patient Portal. Your provider will review your situation and adjust your plan if appropriate.
